  1. Angela says:

Creating awareness of what constitutes bullying helps with self-assessment and sometimes reduces bullying because when some people know better they do better.

  2. Lorena Aguilar says:

I strongly believe that using humor to teach social-emotional skills to students/ children is essential because student will take it as a way of having fun without knowing that they are actually learning. Hence teaching social-emotional to students in this manner will essentially allow students to see the picture at the their level of understanding.

  3. Jennifer Mays says:

Would use these resources in 3 ways: counseling individual students; incorporate them into my Advisor 6 class Leadership project; share some with a few of our elementary school principals as none of our district elementaries have counselors.

  4. Kay Powers says:

Our School Resource Officer really needs useful, readable, relevant materials to use with his small group sessions. These materials fit his needs perfectly!

  5. Sarah Smith says:

It would be a blessing to receive these books. I have little to know budget to buy books at my school. I find myself purchasing one book a paycheck on Ebay. I usually have to buy the book that matches my lesson theme that month. Since I see K-3 every week and 4-5 every month, I have about 4-5 books to buy. It gets expensive, especially because I have 3 kids of my own. I would LOVE to have a few of these books for small group book study in 5th grade. I would also like to use them in classroom guidance. I was hoping to get a grant this year, but I’ve had no luck.

  6. Lynn says:

We have over 710 students in our school district. We are always looking for new ways to educate our students about this important topic. We would use the books with individuals, small groups and classroom lessons.

I do a bullying survey with my 4-6 students every year and last year only 1 student responded that sometimes they act like a bully. Clearly we don’t have just one person doing all of the bullying at my school, so I would use these resources to further help students understand that, at times, their behavior IS bullying. And that they need to make better choices in how their use their power and get their needs met so as not to be hurtful to others.

  74. Rhonda Sloan says:

Rhonda Sloan- as a winner of this bundle, I would use the resources to continue to strengthen my 5th grade students’ knowledge surrounding this global epidemic. By sharing and engaging in the stories and resources, my students, as the leaders our school could begin an active “Anti-bullying campaign” where they would plan presentations for the younger classrooms, Monday morning assemblies, and set up safe spaces for students to come to in order to report “bullying behaviors’ that are being observed on campus. I think these resources would really allow my students to see the “Real world” connections and to immerse themselves in becoming problem solvers and implementing positive strategies and behaviors that are inclusive of our entire student population regardless of differences. I am thinking that through this experience, the students may also create a statement that would become our motto or active mission statement.

As a school psychologist, I have used the series that includes “Weird,” “Dare” and “Tough” with the students I see in small group social skills and individually. Many of my students have difficulty maintaining appropriate social behaviors and regulating their emotions. This series has helped me to explain perspective and how things may look different based on things you don’t always see. The students enjoy coming up with “the right answer” when we read the books, even if they can’t employ them, yet, in real life. Plus they really like shouting out “weird” or “dare” as those words pop up in the story.

Our school counselor needs more resources to help address at all age levels; this would be a wonder gift to offer!

  150. Brenda says:

I serve approximately 150 child care programs in Iowa as their child care consultant and I also train classes on the Pyramid Model, I use many materials within the context of this training series to help programs implement concepts learned in the training. I also consult with centers and home providers when they are having bullying issues and they need help. I would be able to model for them how they might use the resources within their program.

  151. J Zaske says:

I work at a K-5 Elementary building and am always looking for new resources to address this important topic. These texts would help expand the work we are doing surrounding bullying response and prevention at my school!

  152. Lori Henry says:

My FCCLA leadership chapter is doing some upcoming workshops for teachers on bullying. It would be great to give these resources to them AND for us to use them in the presentations. They fit perfectly into the topic the teens are going to be teaching/sharing with the teachers in our district.

  153. Sara klejmont says:

I work with students from ages k-21 that are special needs, autistic and emotionally disturbed for individual and group counseling

  154. Corina Morga says:

Prevention is KEY! The resources will provide our students opportunities to learn about how they can stand up to bullies through group guidance lessons as well as individual counseling skills. As a counselor, the above resources will enable our students to feel encouraged to act and speak out against bullying on campus or via cyberspace.

  155. I am a school librarian in a school, Grades K – 8. I would display the Anti-Bullying resources in the library, introduce them to the classes, and discuss some of the bullying issues in our school. I would also encourage the teachers to bring resources into the classroom when bullying issues arise among their students.

  156. James W Karolyi says:

I facilitate a Rotary leadership training event called Rotary Youth Leadership Awards for 100 high school leaders in an urban setting. I would this publication as a train the trainer resource.

  157. Elizabeth says:

Our school does not have a Bully Prevention program and would benefit from incorporating a school wide program. In the midst of CPS budget cuts and high social emotional needs, we can use all the support we can get for our students. These resources would be implemented to enhance violence and bullying prevention. Thank you

  158. Connie Izzo says:

I am the school psychologist in an inner-city school. We currently have grades k-6, but we are “growing out” to 7th and 8th during the next 2 years. Bullying is always one of the concerns that we must address year after year. Education is necessary to change the school culture to one of acceptance for all. We currently have small groups run by our social worker to assist students who are frequent targets of bullies to acquire better self-advocacy skills. We need to be able to bring programs into the classrooms to have a greater impact on school climate. The ability to raise awareness, give students common vocabulary, and allow opportunities for discussion and reflection would be infinitely aided by resources that you are offering.

  159. Teresa Bateman says:

I would use these resources to specifically address an issue that is becoming an increasing problem–a complete lack of empathy. In this digital world too few students really understand the impact their actions have on others. These would be great resources to use in creating a unit based on that specific issue.

I would use these resources in a variety of different ways (individually, small groups, classroom lessons, etc.) with students in grades K-6 at the elementary school where I work as a social worker.

  164. Kristina says:

I would use these tools in therapy to educate my clients on bullying prevention and intervention while addressing mental health concerns.

I would use it to teach everyone at school (since I teach Pre-K to grade 6) how to treat their fellow students better, how to appreciate themselves, and teach about valuable life skills.

  169. Lisa Detrych says:

I would use these Anti-Bullying resources in both of my Elementary Schools for a Bulletin Board to promote ways to deal with bullying to the entire school. I am forming a Student Bullying Committee and we would use these resources for presentations to all the students! In small peer groups I work with I would utilize the resources to help those in groups who need tools to stand up to bullying as well as, provide tools for those that are bullying to deal with their anger and other issues in a safe manner!

  170. Linda says:

I work as an Elementary School Counselor in four buildings, both public and parochial. Bibliotherapy is one of the most effective forms of school counseling and a personal favorite, so these would be a tremendous asset, as I work with my hundreds of kids!

  171. Sara Kapocius says:

We are a grades 6-12 building with a variety of bullying issues. This group of resources would allow our PBIS committee to prepare our students deal with the problems they face. Social media makes our jobs tough, as what happens online comes back into our school daily. We would love to win this bundle or resources!

  172. trina says:

I would use them in my social skills groups.

  173. I would use these resources with my life skills classes.
